Taunton Shotokan Karate Club Guest Book

Thank you for the information contained within your site. I am learning Shuko Karate, however, I wish to maintain the traditions of Traditional and Shotokan Karate if possible. The information here has been of great use. Thank you again.

Orpington Shotokan Karate Club
Following the recent death of Sensei Enoeda there has been a split within the Karate Union of Great Britain.
Sensei Ohta has been asked by the JKA to form a new organisation that will continue to promote traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate. Sensei has accepted this challenge and formed a new organisation under the name 'The Japan Karate Association England
The Orpington Shotokan Karate Club have been asked by Sensei Richardson which direction they would like their club to follow, whether it be remaining with the KUGB, joining the JKAE or moving to a completely different organisation.
This was put to the vote at a recent committee meeting and the unanimous decision was that we would give Sensei Ohta our full support and join the JKAE.
This decision is not intended to reflect negatively on the KUGB in any way. It was felt by all members that due to the clubs close links with Sensei Ohta it would be appropriate for us to follow him.

Your Home page has been a great help.
I am currently a student of Master Mark Clark (5th Dan) at the American Karate Academy (AKA) in Maryland, USA. The AKA teaches a mix of styles in karate, self defense, and weapons training. However, our basics are from Shotokan.

We will be moving to the Taunton area within 8 months and would like to continue our training. My son (age 6) is a green belt, and I am a red belt. How do you handle transfer requirements from other schools? FYI, our belt structure is White, Yellow, Yellow/Black, Green, Green/Black, Brown, Brown/Black, Red, Red/Black, Blue, Black.

Thank You,
JG
